The future of the Palestinian economy is closely tied to the development of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of driving the production of high-value products and services. This transformation is essential for fostering innovation and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
This growth is driven by a number of players and initiatives, including approximately 150 software companies and 100 outsourcing firms contributing to a vibrant tech landscape. Alongside these businesses, there are 15 tech training academies dedicated to developing skilled professionals, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for the industry. The sector also boasts 51 investors, with 75% of them being angel investors, reflecting a strong commitment to nurturing startups and fostering innovation.
PITA, the Palestinian Information Technology Association, plays a pivotal role in supporting this ecosystem. By facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders, including tech companies and educational institutions, PITA helps address challenges and enhance the overall competitiveness of the sector. Additionally, the presence of 20 acceleration programs provides crucial support for startups, offering mentorship and resources to help them thrive.

Palestine is emerging as a dynamic hub for tech talent, driven by a thriving network of universities and academies that produce approximately 2,500 ICT graduates each year, representing around 3.8% of all Palestinian graduates. This, paired with the efforts of more than 15 training academies, have resulted in an influx of talent, complemented by a growing community of 10,000 freelancers, creating a vibrant ecosystem where innovation flourishes. Notably, 27% of the ICT workforce comprises women, which is very closely aligned with the global average.
With strong English capabilities, and Arabic spoken with a neutral dialect, Palestinian professionals are well-equipped to engage with the global market. This new generation of forward-thinking innovators is harnessing a rich cultural heritage that spans thousands of years, driving profound changes in the technology and startup landscape.
